I selected the Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock ( Heeren Street ) as my research traditional street, located in Malacca. The name "Heeren" is a remnant of the Dutch colonisation of Malacca. The narrow street with houses with ornately painted facades was the preferred area for the prosperous Straits-born Chinese in the mid-19th and early 20th century. Not only the architectural features and history, but I also explored the spaces and the people. Culturally, these are temples, traditional crafts, and museums. Each of them plays an important role in preserving the people's traditions and roots, which have been passed down through centuries. I have also noticed traditional trades that have preserved and become an integral part of the identity of Melaka.

I selected Traditional Chinese Architecture as my research topic, I studied design cosmology, the evolution of traditional Chinese architecture, the functionality of each component, and construction method. For this assignment, I mainly focus on ancient Chinese palace architecture by reason of its uniqueness and ornately design elements. The main aspect I would like to refine this assignment is adding the details of different styles of Chinese Architecture that existed in different parts of the mainland.

From the observations derived in Project 1, our group requires to identify important matters happening in Jalan Tun H.S Lee and elaborate the aspects based on adaptive re-use of traditional architecture. We examined the street and evaluate out with few possible approaches that can be considered to be applied. Our method of conducting research was mainly via reading articles and journals that were cited in Google scholar. We were able to discover various case studies, both in and out of the local region, that best demonstrated the challenges, aspects to consider and the consequences of good or poor adaptive re-use of these cultural assets may have on the area and its society.
